HOLGA 120S

format: 120 film

acquired: october, 2000

details: i was required to purchase one of these inexpensive plastic "toy" cameras for my intermediate level photography class and i have to say it's probably the best $15 i ever spent (on a camera, anyway). i've used this camera almost as much as my 35mm cameras because it's so fun to use. its poor quality introduces a certain degree of randomness into your images, which is a welcome change from the usual obsessive-compulsive nature of most photography. color shifts, blurry edges and uneven exposures are all common Holga "errors" that give the camera's pictures a unique beauty.
